Today, the development of labor resources in the regions of Kazakhstan was discussed at a high level within the walls of Kozybayev University. The round table was attended by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Svetlana Zhakupova, the Akim of the North Kazakhstan Region, Gauyez Nurmukhambetov, members of Parliament, representatives of large enterprises of the region, educational institutions, students, and participants of the "Serpin" program. Issues of labor migration, youth employment, the formation of a practice-oriented approach in the training of specialists, and raising the prestige of working professions were raised.
"Today, technical specialists are in high demand in the country: engineers, energy specialists, water management specialists, agronomists, veterinarians, and representatives of other important professions. That is why the Head of State declared 2025 the Year of Working Professions. At the same time, it is important for us not only to train such specialists but also to form a special culture of labor in our country, to cultivate respect for working people, to promote the values of hard work and professionalism," said Maulen Ashimayev.
The demand for technical specialists is growing, and in the coming years, the need for them will be about one million people. At our university, training in technical and agricultural specialties is carried out, including through joint double-degree programs with the University of Arizona. This increases the attractiveness of specialties among young people. As a result, students from all regions of Kazakhstan and abroad are studying with us today. We are building systematic work with young people on the development of labor migration. In particular, the "Serpin Koldau" center was created at the university to support graduates of the "Serpin" program, where individual work will be carried out with each student from the moment of admission to employment. An important initiative will be the provision of dormitories for program graduates in the first year after graduation. This will give them time to resolve housing issues. To organize dual education, internships, and employment of graduates, the university has concluded over 300 agreements with the largest employers in the region.
Fourth-year student Ayaulym Yeralkhan said at the event that, studying under the "Serpin" program, she is already confident in her future: "I am very glad that I entered Kozybayev University. In the future, I plan to enter a master's program to improve my education level. I have already received a job offer from one of the qualified institutions. Also, one of the opportunities provided by the university is the placement of graduates in dormitories. Therefore, I am ready to stay here and work."
Another significant task facing the only university in the North Kazakhstan region is to bring the education system closer to the needs of the regional economy. The Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having familiarized himself with the university's laboratories in the field of analyzing the quality of livestock and crop products, highly appreciated the achievements of Kozybayev University in this direction.
"Here the laboratories are very unique, because they are close to the interests of the region's economy. And they can help farmers and industrial enterprises in the region. Therefore, it seems to me that the peculiarity of the university is that you have done everything possible to ensure that the effect of research, development, and scientific projects is applied in practice in the region's economy. We support this kind of approach," concluded Maulen Ashimbayev.
Also at the event, Svetlana Zhakupova presented an analysis of the labor market by region and information platforms designed to help in the employment of specialists. During the exchange of views, proposals were developed in the field of labor resource development, specialist training, and labor migration, which will be sent to higher authorities.
