A Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and how it is applied in Science

The ISSAI of Nazarbayev University – the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence - specializes in AI, machine learning, intelligent systems (AI in robotics), AR, speech technologies and more. Its executive director - Yerbol Absalyamov - held a seminar on AI-related issues for the faculty, doctoral students, postdoctoral students, and scientists of Kozybayev University who are working on projects in the field of smart systems, machine learning, and linguistics.

As of now, there is a number of ISSAI projects that have been implemented in the fields of healthcare (visualization of X-ray images and detection of pathologies, memory improvement using VR-glasses), public administration (an AI-based model made for classifying vehicles at customs), biometric authentication of individuals, web searching, etc. The most important pieces of the institute’s research were the developments of digital products for speech applications: a model for transforming Kazakh speech into text, a GPT chatbot with the implemented Kazakh language. All this makes a great contribution to the digital infrastructure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The research uses the latest NVIDIA DGX supercomputers, which represent the most advanced technologies in the field of AI.
Since last year, ISSAI has been providing free access to these servers to promote AI research among domestic universities.
