Islam Evloev Wins Silver at the Prestigious Zagreb Open 2026

Kozybayev University student and Greco-Roman wrestler Islam Evloev continues to достойно represent Kazakhstan on the world stage.

At the ranking tournament Zagreb Open 2026 (Croatia) - one of the most prestigious international wrestling competitions (freestyle, women’s, and Greco-Roman) held under the auspices of United World Wrestling (UWW) - our athlete claimed the silver medal.

The competition took place from February 4 to 8 and set the balance of power at the start of the season. Islam competed in a new weight category for himself, up to 97 kg, confidently advancing through the entire tournament bracket and losing only in the final, finishing second among the world’s strongest wrestlers.

It is worth noting that the athlete already has major victories to his name, including titles at the U20 World Championship, the Asian Youth Championship, the XIII Summer Universiade of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and other national competitions. Last year, at the final of the VI Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, he won silver in the up to 87 kg weight category.
