On 29 January the President of Kazakhstan made a speech presenting his annual Message to people of the country at the Parliament Chambers’ meeting in Astana.

Pupils, workers, pensioners, teachers and students listened to the President’s speech in front of either a Multimedia Device or TV-sets, some of them even in the University’s Halls during breaks between classes. The current Message touches all parts of our life and is vital for every citizen of the country.

The President summarized the main achievements of the first 10-year period of the strategy 2030 and set new aims and goals for the following decade.

Sabyr Ibryev, the Dean of History and Law Department, making some comments on the Message mentioned: ‘The annual message is a result of the work done within last 10 years by our Government, the President, the county in general. This message implies big goals and great opportinities. The name of the message itself ‘New decade – New upsurge in economy – New opportunities for Kazakhstan’ tells us a lot. To my mind, today our country draws attention of the whole world community’.

Timoshina T., the Deputy Dean in charge of Science and External Relations of Economics Department, marked out of the Message the most essential points for herself and the University as well: ‘The most important thing is the idea for the creation of a new law dealing with science that will be able to systematize all scientific and educational structures in the Republic. Today we do need to reestablish our undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate education in accordance with international standards to make our education institutes more applicable to new demands and acceptable all over the world. I was extremely glad to hear that despite the crisis our State could get over all dificulties. Moreover, it is necessary to mention that teachers’ salaries and students’ scholarships will be increased from April, 1st’

The main priority in Kazakhstan’s social policy is to provide citizens with workplaces. Kanat Kasenov, the manager of the Center of job placement assisstance for graduating students, pointed out that it will be very useful to undertake new innovative projects and implement them because they will create new workplaces for future graduates. The main goal that the President put before the Government is to decrease the unemployment level to 5%.

The steady and balanced development of the country withing next 10 years will be provided by accelerated diversification and increase in competitiveness of the national economy. The student of Economics Department, Asel Syzdykova, has noticed in these words her own benefits: «I think it is of high importance to develop islamic banking on the territory of Kazakhstan because this form of banking is the least risky in comparison with other modern bank institutions. Furthermore, it is a new experience for our country’.

Nursultan Nazarbayev said in his speech that he has high hopes for the members of NurOtan Party, who need to mobilize the whole society, all members of the Party to explain and implement aims and objectives of the coming decade. Baurzhan Mustafin, first Deputy Chairman of the subsidiary BOLASHAK (NurOtan Party) believes that they will cope with this task: ‘Every citizen of Kazakhstan has heard in the given Message these things that he wanted to hear. Our Party was given a task to implemet goals of the strategy 2030. I assure you we will succeed in it’.

Finishing his speech the President pointed out that the youth is a basis of the future, and will be granted new opportunities to build new life. Samat Zhakenov, a student, is sure that: ‘Only due to solidarity and work done by all citizens of the country, we, the young generation, will be able to achieve mentioned goals and to not let down out Leader’.
