In November, 20 the Republic scientific-practical conference ‘Kozybayevskie Chteniya - 2009’ took place at the University, that has been held annually since 2003 and has become traditional. That conference hasn’t lost its importance till present time. A lot of scientists from Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries participate at the conference.

Before the conference began the administration of the University together with guests laid flowers to the academician M. Kozybayev monumet. The aim of the conference was to discuss scientific problems and to establish scientific contacts. The participants were shown the film about the academician’s life and his contribution to Kazakhstan’ science. Different participants from Kostanai, Almaty, Troik, colleges and schools of Petropavlovsk showed great interest in the conference work. 217 reports of 305 authors from Kazakhstan and Russia were submitted before the conference. Among the guests were regular participants such people as Amanzhol Kuzembiauly, Ph.D.,professor of Kostanai State Pedagogical Institute, who worked with M. Kozybayev for about 40 years. At the plenary session Amanzhol Kuzembaiuly underlined the role of M.Kozybayev in the scinece of Kazakhstan. He presented M.Kozybayev as the scientist that began studying the history of the North part of our country. Participants reported a lot about the acadimician’s contribution into the study of Kazakhstan’s zhyrau, national traditions and religions in conditions of Independence; his patriotism, etc.

The work of the conference was maintained later by section meetings divided into 6 parts: engineering sciences, the humanities, economics studies, etc.

The participants of the conference noticed that its importance is growing year by year. ‘Kozybayevskie Chteniya’ is not only a conference on the questions of history and archeology, but physics, mathematics, agriculture (that is extremely essential for our region) as well.
