“Margulanovskiye Chteniya – 2009” is an international scientific conference on history and archeology organized by the North-Kazakhstan State University named after M. Kozybayev. 135 leading specialists from a number of institutions of higher education and research centres of Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan have contributed more than 120 articles and reports as the conference materials. The plenary meeting was declared open by the university president, an academician of the National Academy of Science, Professor Undasyn Ashimov. He stated that the conference became a meeting place for the delegates from 17 different cities, 7 of which are situated in Russian Federation. The very beginning of the conference demonstrated its high organizational and scientific level. Alexander Tairov reported on an interesting problem of aristocratic burials of ancient times on the territory of the Southern Urals. Maral Khabdulina who came from Astana presented the main research trends of Archeology research institute named after Akishev. The plenary meeting was followed by a concert which was specially organized for the university guests. However it was not the only pleasant surprise for the conference participants. The conference programme also included excursions around the university and the city of Petropavlovsk. The guests visited the museum named after M. Kozybayev, the university astrophysical centre and the swimming pool. The main goal of the event was to present the latest scientific discoveries in various fields of history and archeology within the framework of sectional meeting. The sectional meetings devoted to the archeology of the stone, bronze, iron and the Middle Ages as well as the sectional meeting in the Humanities were the main reason of gathering all the participants at the same time and place. Presenting various topics of history and archeology, the participants were united by an overall goal of the advancement of science.
